The climate crisis does not wait—and neither can the evidence needed to tackle it. As we confront the urgencies of a warming planet, there is a clear and growing need for implementing and scaling actionable, evidence-based policy and practice that address mitigation, adaptation, and loss and damage.
As the premier conference for evidence-based climate policy and practice, the What Works Climate Solutions (WWCS) Summit brings together a growing community of actors, including policymakers, practitioners, scientists, funders, and the institutional actors who turn knowledge and data into action. Our core mission is to promote and catalyse the use of rigorous evidence to design more effective and equitable climate policies and practices.
The second edition of the WWCS Summit will be hosted by ASCEND at the University of Cape Town (UCT) Graduate School of Business over 3.5 days from 13–16 April 2027. It aims to provide platforms for learning about what works, for shaping the global climate solutions discourse, and to increase participation of early career researchers, policymakers, and practitioners from across the Global South. We will also organise additional capacity building activities in evidence-based methods around the Summit.
We are now warmly inviting researchers, decision-makers, evaluators, data scientists, and practitioners to prepare and submit summaries of their work to share at the WWCS Summit 2027 in Cape Town.
